John Sloan is a retired IT professional with more than 30 years of experience leading technology and service delivery teams across commercial, education, and government sectors. His career included senior roles at Database Consultants Australia, RMIT, Premier Technologies, and CSC, where he built a reputation for guiding cloud migration, managing complex infrastructure, and leading teams to deliver reliable, high-quality services.

John first joined the Waverley Board over a decade ago after being encouraged by a mentor to take on a governance role that would broaden his strategic perspective. When the opportunity arose, he leapt at it and has been a dedicated contributor ever since.

At Waverley, John draws on his expertise in IT infrastructure, service delivery, and enterprise systems to support sound decision-making and long-term sustainability. With a Six Sigma Green Belt and ITIL Foundation certification, he also brings strong skills in cost optimisation, process improvement, and ensuring critical systems are resilient and effective.

Beyond his professional contributions, John is passionate about photography and sailing. He enjoys capturing the world through a lens and cruising the seas, often combining both passions in his travels.
